Background: I qualified in 2000 as a Registered General Nurse in adult nursing. I started working in acute medicine then specialised in emergency medicine for the past 23 years as well as primary care for over 10 years. I have completed an MSc in Integrated Professional Development (Advanced Practice).

My role as an advanced clinical practitioner at Berkeley Place Surgery includes working as part of the urgent care team as well as supervising and training other health and care professionals, both at the practice and across the Central Cheltenham Primary Care Network.

Background: I qualified as a nurse in 2006 studying at Manchester University. I worked in Bath & Cheltenham hospitals for around 9 years. Then I worked in the rapid response team for 2.5 years. During this time, I started studying towards a masters in advanced practice and have now completed most of the modules. I started working in general practice around 7 years ago and have worked in several GP surgeries, undertaken a frailty role, and worked for the out of hours service.

Charlie Mortimer-Hampson (m)

Paramedic

Specialist areas: I enjoy all aspects of managing primary care presentations, I have a keen interest in Dermatology and skin lesions.

Background: I qualified as a paramedic from Coventry University in 2010 and moved to Cheltenham to work for South Western Ambulance Service until 2020. From 2019 to 2022 I completed an MSc in Primary Care learning all aspects of managing primary care presentations. This also included a separate qualification as a non-medical prescriber.

I have worked in Urgent Care since 2020 and moved to the Wilson Health Centre in March 2025 where I work across both Berkeley Place Surgery and Royal Crescent Surgery.

Sam Taylor (f)

Paramedic

Background: I joined West Midlands Ambulance Service in 2010 as a student paramedic. I worked in both inner city and rural ambulance stations and qualified as a paramedic in 2012. In 2015, I returned to university to study modules in minor illness and minor injuries. This extra training allowed me to move from emergency care into primary and urgent care in 2021. I have been working with Berkeley Place Surgery since January 2022.

Since joining the GP surgery, I have undertaken additional master levels modules in Advanced Clinical Assessment and Decision Making (APICA) and I am currently undergoing my non-medical prescribing qualification. I love meeting people of all ages but especially enjoy working with children.
